I, too, am a fan of hypermiling.

My idea of hypermiling involves CA highways and a Porsche 918.

Yours may be successful, but it will never be a Cadillac.

And what a feast for the eyes and ears that will be. This just reminds me of the Audi and Peugeot battle in the mid-2000s and to me that’s a great thing especially with Toyota in the mix. Hopefully it’ll be a three way battle to the death next year.

It’ll be even better if Nissan gets it’s shit together.

Apparently they will be running 1200hp with the hybrid system.

But Team Joest needs to get its shit together.

Yeah the Nissans were too far down on pace. I think the hybrid system is just the beginning of what they need to work on. Apparently they had to dodge all the sausage curbs too instead of mounting them otherwise the entire car would lose its composure and go straight into the gravel or armco barrier.

It was heartbreaking seeing Audi take so long with their pitstops and repairs. They are usually the gold standard when it comes to endurance repairs and pit stops.

I wasn’t expecting Nissan to win, I really wasn’t. The first year is a “test” year, look at Porsche last year, they were a bit slow, and I think 2 of the cars failed (I know one car definitely did).

But maybe next year... I still don’t want them to win but I want them to give Audi/Porsche/But-mainly-Audi-fuck-Porsche, a damn good fight.

I don’t understand what the hell Audi was doing when the rear deck shattered. It took them 6 minutes to repair, and that’s when I realized the race for Audi was over. Then, Porsche had to replace the rear deck and it took them not even 30 seconds. A get that the mounting points might’ve been little messed up, but 6 minutes?

Anyway, I have a feeling that Porsche just developed the 919 for LeMans and LeMans only, and (shh, might want to put the tinfoil hat on) VAG is having Audi go for the WEC championship, and Porsche go for the LeMans titles, especially since Audi has won more WEC races this year then years past.

But I really want to see Audi to overtake Porsche in most constructor wins.

That’d be amazing.

Also- I don’t want Toyota to win or come close to winning at all, I don’t want them to get the publicity. Toyota Camry LeMans does not sound appealing...

So very true. I thought I was the only one who didn’t want Nissan or Toyota to win. What can I say, I like my Germans.

That’s a pretty solid theory actually. I would guess it’s a safer bet allowing Audi to go for the WEC title since they have more recent experience running these so they could bring home the title for VAG. I’m sure this happened since they weren’t too happy about Toyota taking the title last year.

I’m torn on Toyota. On the one hand they would bring competition and maybe it would brinthem back from beige-land. But on the other hand, a Camry Le Mans Edition would be a horrific sight. On top of that, I would be sick to my stomach of people who have no idea what WEC is telling me about their Camry’s “racing pedigree” and “heritage” at Le Mans because some salesman told them about it.

I do like those. I also remember when they came up for sale at a ridiculously low price...too bad I wasn’t a millionaire, I’d have bought one.

I have a feeling Toyota is gonna pull out. They only ran 2 cars, and were far off pace. Not Nissan-slow, just they where out of contention by hour 3, and I didn’t hear anything about them the whole race...

The only problem with my theory is, is makes more marketing sense to have Audi win LeMans over Porsche since Porsche has a more limited market share. And you don’t go to LeMans expecting to lose... Well Nissan aside.

I didn’t want Nissan to win, because as cool as the FWD concept is, I don’t want the field to be dominated by FWD concepts (but I will say without the hood, it’s definitely the coolest car on the grid- so sinister for a V6).

And The only problem with Audi and Porsche dominating is Nissan and Toyota have little reason to stay, and Audi v. Porsche wouldn’t be very interesting...

But I don’t know why Audi would go for the WEC championship, because the marketing there is terrible, I mean look at Toyota last year. They haven’t marketed it at all... At least to my knowledge... (and yet they marketed “Grounded to the Ground”)
